Missing in Action and Two Different Styles

I am so sorry I have been missing in action.  I have been busy with church activities, my son's graduation from college, and we found out my daughter/son-in-law are expecting another child (grandchild # 2 can't wait)...whoohoo life has been exciting.  And oh yeah, now that my husband is retired, he has joined me in the garage working on projects for Happy's which has kept me so busy, I am "plum tuckered out" at the end of the day.

Now, here is the thing...we have two different styles of working on projects.

My project style is about enjoying the moments of creativity and seeing what comes next...minutes turn into hours and I am just happy to be in the garage "piddling away" messing with paint and glue and such.

On the other hand, my husband's style is a little more "intense" shall we say.  He is type A and likes to get things done.  His feeling of accomplishment is seeing things completed and packed in the Suburban only to be taken out and placed in my space at Happy's.

Can you imagine some of our conversations?  But I have to say he has been the inspiration that has kept me really busy completing things. This new experience is teaching us how to be patient with each other (style differences you know).  When all is said and done, I think we make a good team.  I am thankful, he puts up with me.

Without further delay, let my show you what we have been up to...

At one point, this must have been a mirror that went with a chest of drawers...the mirror was in bad shape so now it is a chalkboard.

This desk came from Habitat...dark brown and outdated.  The chair came from a sell of ECU surplus...they just happened to match after a good coat of paint.

This sweet little bench came from Goodwill.  It was probably a coffee table but I think it would make a cute bench for a rectangular table or in a Sun Room or by the door leading from a garage...a good place to sit an put on your shoes.  It was painted and distressed...my husband says I stress him by distressing.

The wicker chair came from Craigslist and the table came from a yardsale at least a year ago.  A fresh coat of white paint.  The candle holder was a recent yard sale find.  It was green and rusty.

This table came from a yardsale.  We sanded and restained the top and painted the lower part...I think it's an interesting combination.

This piece was a yardsale find as well.  The top is really beautiful.

This french provencial we found at a yardsale at Grifton Men's Ministry...they have one every Saturday.  We painted with chalk paint and distressed it.

Hidden below the Fourth of July Decor is a precious little gray chest.  This was found at a yardsale.  Larry had to recreate the drawers.  But it is vintage and has the cute little rolling wheels.

We found this frame at a yardsale...a hideous black and not in good shape...we painted it white and added a mirror.  Now she is a beauty.

I have plenty more.  I will come back tomorrow and show you what we have been up to.

Remember,
God is always at work around us
and often shows Himself
in the most “unexpected” ways.
